Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones
The power courses through him
His hands shake, his eyes darken
She's trying, he knows, but how
How can she understand what he went through?
Breathing becomes hard
And his voice is cracking
"They're animals," he says.
Is he imagining the way his voice shakes?
The words slip from his chapped lips.
Will she understand?
"They're animals. And I slaughtered them. Like animals."
The tears are running.
He can't bring himself to care
Because he needs to get his point across.
How can she understand?
This feeling, the feeling post-slaughter,
It makes him ill.
He can still feel the hatred,
The anger, the lust for blood
Those feelings are threatening to take over.
She can't understand.
She didn't see his mother's face.
The thought of Shmi Skywalker's dead eyes
Won't leave his thoughts.
Her expression will haunt him through his days.
Anakin swallows
His throat is choked up.
She can't understand.
He wants more.
More power, more pain, more hatred, more
Death.
The power courses through him
His hands shake, his eyes darken
She's trying, he knows, but how
How can she understand what he went through?
Breathing becomes hard
And his voice is cracking
"They're animals," he says.
Is he imagining the way his voice shakes?

I wrote this for a challenge on Shadowplay. The challenge: "Your challenge is to create a poem about a movie that you have seen. please title the poem whatever movie you have based it off of. You can base it off a theme, scene, character or any other aspect of the movie. Have fun!"
I wanted to do this since it was posted up on the 8th but I couldn't think of a movie to do and, just recently, Mom and I had a Star Wars marathon (sadly, I missed watching Ani kill the children (my favourite scene)) and as I was reading over the other entries, I figured that I could do a Star Wars poem.
The poem itself is based on one of my favourite lines from the second episode: "They're animals. And I slaughtered them like animals." My friend told me that the line got a really bad rap -people kept saying that Hayden couldn't act and that scene was terrible because of him. I, personally, thought he did an amazing job. I cried when he did that whole scene, from Shmi's death to that line because it's great >.> Plus, the poem was between this line and the line, "An elegant weapon. Of a more civilized time." That line is just awesome too.
